Abstract
Updating family laws is an important juristic problem. According to the theory of Shiite jurists, the rulings are subject to expediency and corruption. The immortality of Islam lies in the fact that it sets principles in various components of human life. The concept of Mahr had a special function in the past. Today, it is a sign of woman's social dignity or a guarantee for cohabitation. Therefore, extravagant Mahr has become common among families, which has created many problems in society. The family plan has been defined according to the Islamic legal system, in which the purpose of forming a family is to raise a righteous child. We suggest that Mahr and the right to divorce should be abolished in a permanent marriage and that each spouse must be able to file for divorce under certain conditions. These two changes require alterations in other family rules.
